Equality Information and Objectives Statement
January 2024
Canterbury Road is committed to equality both as an employer and as a school serving our community.
We ensure that everyone is treated fairly and with respect. The concept of respect forms the central tenet of our behaviour policy and our motto of ‘a friendly happy place to learn’ reinforces our belief that school is a safe, welcoming and a place for everyone to learn.
We know that people have different needs and that to treat people equally does not mean treating everyone in the same way. We aim to value and respect everyone who works at or with the school.
We provide extra support and challenge for those pupils who need it to enable them to achieve and be successful. This may mean that some pupils receive additional provision or adult time.
We aim to consult parents, staff and pupils about changes in the school to ensure that people feel they belong and that they have a say.
We aim to prevent discrimination or less favourable treatment of someone because of their age, disability, ethnicity, colour or national origin, gender or gender identity, marital or civil partnership status, pregnancy or recent pregnancy, religion or beliefs or someone’s sexual identity and orientation.
